Beck & Eggeling
Dr. Ute Eggeling and Michael Beck established their gallery in the Villa Beck in Leipzig in 1994. The villa was transformed into a showroom for modern art by 19th and 20th century masters and contemporary artists. It also provided a forum for exploring inter-disciplinary art forms and probing the affinities of visual art and music. In 1998, Ute Eggeling and Michael Beck decided to leave their location in Leipzig and pursue their international gallery programme in Düsseldorf and New York. At the turn of the millennium, the gallery finally moved into its current premises on the ground floor of an 18th century city palais in the heart of the historic old town of Düsseldorf. In the spring of 2006, Beck & Eggeling opened their “new quarters” in additional premises directly opposite their existing gallery. The industrial, loft-like character of this space is ideal for the presentation of contemporary art. With their new quarters, Beck & Eggeling are since then committed to providing a platform not only for established artists but also for emerging ones. A permanent programme of consistently high quality works of Expressionism and 20th century masters has allowed Beck & Eggeling to establish themselves as a leading name in the international art market. "Fine art is the finest investment" is their common credo which they wish also to be understood in its intellectual way! And 'art is the best way to understand the world a little better!'
