Galerie Kommoss
We are in passion with Japanese art! All started with a small private collection in Germany and became soon one of the leading galleries for Japanese art. Galerie Kommoss is confidently providing East Asian art with more than 10 years of experience. The gallery has a special focus on antique Japanese screen painting (byôbû) and Japanese hanging scrolls (kakejiku) from the Edo period and early modern times. Furthermore we passionately collect and offer ceramics (especially the Shigaraki and Bizen type) and color painted porcelains. Selected gold-lacquer works are completing our offer. Shipping worldwide, we serve our customers – private collectors and public art institutions – around the globe. As an online gallery we are publishing our complete offers on this website. However, if you are interested in an object from our website, you are welcome to contact us and we will see how to arrange a private viewing. You also might catch a glimpse on our works at an art fair or at one of our exhibitions in temporary show rooms. Sign up to our newsletter to keep updated. We love what we do! The gallery owner, Fabian Alexander Kommoss, is a graduated art historian in East Asian art and Japanese culture. He has lived, studied and taught East Asian art in Germany, Switzerland, China, Taiwan and Japan. Being involved in the academic and museum’s context as well as in commercial art business, Galerie Kommoss feels a strong responsibility for both; the desire of our private clients for collecting fine Japanese art as well as for the preservation of cultural and historical artifacts and their accessibility in the public. We dedicate our work to source, sustain and provide highest quality cultural artifacts in all their facets and to convey Japanese arts to a broader audience.
